Birth Of Gods | Description Of Gods

The beginning of all greek gods is Gaia (Mother Earth), Eros (Love) and Tartaros (Underground). They were born out of Chaos.

Gaia gave birth to Uranos (Sky), Ourea (Mountains) and Pontos (Oceans). Gaia married Uranos und gave birth to the Titans, Cyclops and Hekatoncheiren.

Kronos one of the Titans castrated his father Uranos and through the spilled blood Gaia gave birth to the Erinnyen (Furies), Giants and the Meliai.

Kronos produced with his sister Rhea many children, including Poseidon, Hades, Hestia, Demeter, Hera and Zeus.

Zeus overthrew the Titans and made himself the god of sky, the ruler of all gods and humans. His brother Hades got the underworld and Poseidon the oceans. Zeus produced with Metis Athene. Because of a prophecy he swallowed Metis and gave birth to Athene which sprang out of his head.

With his sister Demeter he produced Persephone and with the Titan Leto Apollon and Artemis.

He married his sister Hera, she gave birth to Ares. With the nymph Maia he produced Hermes. With the mortal Alkmene he produced Herkules (Herakles). The three Moires Klotho, Lachesis and Atropos it said were a product of Zeus and Themis.

Hephaistos is a son of Hera arosed through parthogenese. The birth of Aphrodites is unknown. There are two stories about it. She is either the daughter of Zeus and Dione or arosed the foam that gathered around the genitals of Uranos, cutted off by Zeus.

Helios was the son of the Titans Hyperion and Theia. Dionysos (Bacchus) it said was born twice. At first by Zeus and Persephone, the second by Zeus and Semele.
